Mohamed Aly pasha was the founder of modern Egypt.

Egypt was Under Ottoman rule (Islamic empire in Turkey) until Mohamed Ali Pasha (The founder of modern Egypt) denied his loyalty to the Ottoman empire and Egypt became a strong & indipendent country...

He built himself a mosque in 'Al Aalaa' or the citadel which King Jhon II of the Romans built, and because 'Salah Oul Deen' (Salladin) defited the cruseders and chased them out of this citadel (or castle) so it was named 'The castle of 'Salah Oul Deen El Aoubey' (Salladin the Aoubey)'.
